The Fall

Life Group Leader Guide

This Leader Guide will help you lead the conversation with your Life Group when discussing this week’s sermon.

The Fall

Key Things You Heard

  • In the creation of man, male and female, there is intimacy.
  • God has an indisputable right to make choices, and so his children, made in His image, must also have a choice.
  • We have not been closing the distance; God has.

Pray

Heavenly Father, we long for closeness with you. Yet, we understand that you are the one who pursued us. Thank you for caring so much for us that you sent your Son to die for us, and you placed your Holy Spirit within us as a deposit guaranteeing what is coming. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

Tweetable Moments

“There are 4 chapters in the Bible of people being in a right relationship with God. and 1,185 chapters where they are not.”

“Don’t underestimate the power of love.”

Questions for Conversation

Icebreaker: Tell a story about your most embarrassing moment?

  • Read  1 John 2:16, Genesis 3:6, and Matthew 4:1-10. Find the three things listed in 1 John 2:16 in Genesis 3:6. Then, find the same three things again in Matthew 4:1-10. Finally, read Hebrews 4:15. What insight does this bring to the temptations that we face in life? What do these scriptures reveal about us? What do they reveal about Jesus?
  • In the garden, there was the tree of good and evil. The 2nd tree was the cross of Jesus. What do these have in common? {They both represent a choice.} Ask the group to share the story of their choice in 2-3 minutes. {If someone in the group has not made the choice to accept Jesus, lovingly ask them if they’d like to.}
  • What impacted you the most about this week’s sermon and why?
  • If the message of an intimate, personal relationship with Jesus is important to you, how important is it to share the message? As a group, brainstorm something you can do to include friends and neighbors to start building a bridge to them to share Jesus’ love.

Now Go Do It

Challenge: To share the story of Jesus is what we are called to. To effectively share the story we must build relational bridges strong enough to hold the weight of truth. What activity can your Life Group do in the next 2 weeks that will allow you to start building relationships with the lost of the neighborhood you meet in? Make a plan and follow through with it.
