Questions for Conversation
Icebreaker: What is the funniest viral video you have watched?
- Read 1 Peter 5:10. What four does this verse promise that Jesus will do in your life? Spend time discussing the importance of each of these four things. When, according to this verse does God do this? How long is the suffering? Why does this give you hope? What does this tell you about your walk with God?
- Has there ever been a time when you spent a lot of time trying to clean the cobwebs out instead of killing spiders?
- Carlos said, “The only way you can kill a spider is with the blood of the cross and the power of the resurrection of Jesus in your life.” Read Ephesians 1:19-20 and Romans 8:9-11. As you walk out your life in the lower story, why are the truths of these verses so important? How do you trust God to take care of you when everything inside of you is screaming to meet your own need?
- A spider is an agreement you have made with a lie. A cobweb is a medicator that brings false comfort to that lie. Give an example of a mediator that you have had in your life? Why is it easy to focus on the cobweb instead of letting God killing the spider? What do you need to do to transition to killing spiders instead of cleaning cobwebs? What can you, as a group, do to help each other kill spiders?
