Holy Spirit

Life Group Leader Guide

This Leader Guide will help you lead the conversation with your Life Group when discussing this week’s sermon.

Holy Spirit

Key Things You Heard

  • God is always at work around you.
  • God wants and initiates an intimate personal relationship with you.
  • God invites you to join Him in His work.
  • God speaks to you revealing Himself, His purposes, and His ways.
  • God’s invitation to join Him will always lead to a crisis of belief.
  • You will have to make adjustments to your life to join Him.
  • You come to know Him by this experience.

Pray

Heavenly Father, We are so grateful that you have given us your Holy Spirit as a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance that is to come. We are thankful that he draws us to you, teaches us, and convicts us of sin. But Lord, there is so much that we need to know about how the Holy Spirit helps us to live faithfully for you. Teach us. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Tweetable Moments

“It doesn’t matter how far you’ve come or how long you’ve been in a relationship with God; you can go further and deeper”

Questions for Conversation

Icebreaker: Tell about a time when you experienced God in your life.

  • Read John 5:17. If you really believed that God is always at work around you, how would your everyday life be different? What causes you to forget that God is always at work around you? What are some changes you should make in your life to be able to see God working?
  • Read John 16:13-14 and John 8:47. What is the primary way that the Holy Spirit speaks to us? (The primary way is through the Bible, God’s word.) If this is the primary way, how important is it to read and study the Bible? What did you read in your Bible today? Yesterday? What priority does Bible reading have in your life? Why?
  • Read Hebrews 11:1. Jerry said that God’s invitation to join Him will always lead to a crisis of belief. What did he mean by this? Give an example of when this has been true in your life.
  • Read Luke 9:23. You will have to make adjustments in your life to join Jesus. How has this been true in your life? Is there something in your life that Jesus is calling you to? Where do you see Him working? What adjustments will you have to take to join Him in His work?

Now Go Do It

Challenge: Where is God at work around you? What adjustments do you need to make in your life to join Him in His work? First, make a list of the adjustments you need to make. Then, make a plan to make those adjustments. Finally, pray and ask God to empower you with the strength, determination, or anything else you need to change the way you live.

Make a decision now to join Jerry and Allison Harris in the Bible study this fall.
