Attitude of Gratitude

Conversation Starter

[Say…] This week is going to be a little different than other Life Group weeks. This week is Thanksgiving week. This is one of those times when culture collides with Christianity. Culture, many times, asks us to be thankful for all the material possessions that we have. Of course, we should be thankful for these. But the attitude of thanksgiving plays a much more vital role in the Christian’s life. And, the attitude of thanksgiving is something that we want the Spirit to cultivate in our lives every day. So, this week we will not focus on the sermon but a topic: Thanksgiving.

Discussion Questions

Read the following verses as a group:

1 Thessalonians 5:18; Psalm 107:1; Philippians 4:6-7; Ephesians 5:20; Psalm 104:4; Colossians 3:15; Romans 1:21

Discuss what you learn about being thankful. Look for things like when and why you should be thankful. Under what circumstances should you be thankful? What role does thanksgiving play your worship of God? And finally, what are the consequences of not being thankful?

Pray

This week, instead of listing prayer requests, have each person pray a prayer of thanksgiving. Don’t ask for anything, just be thankful.
