WEEKLY NEWBIE LOCALE

Fuel Teams

John Mitchell

I’m John. I’m a native Q-Town guy, and a graduate of QHS and Central Christian College. I’m married to this beautiful girl I grew up with, Shawna, and we are both involved in the worship and Fuel ministries here at The Crossing. I joined the staff at The Crossing in 2005 for video production. Leave it to God to place me in the middle of a ministry in the middle of a church in the middle of His amazing plan that I didn’t see coming. In the summer of 2008 He surprised me even more by calling me to pastor Fuel. My greatest passion is worship and being able to use my talents in an area that can draw so many different people together in a life-altering encounter with Jesus. Nothing like it. Except maybe owning my own theatre in Branson someday but that’s a whole other bio…

Tyler Yates

I grew up in the great state of Illinois. But I'm proud to say I was born in Louisiana. Mullets and crocadiles... Anyways, I have lived in Quincy most of my life and now I go to John Wood full-time. I work at Starbucks part-time and dig the people I work with. If I have time on my hands I usually hangout with friends or listen to a lot of music while I'm driving or at home. Fuel has been awesome for me and im glad to be leading. I've been enjoying meeting a lot of different students there and think it's going to be even greater this upcoming year! Peace!

Shawna Mitchell

Hi, My name is Shawnal. I grew up in Quincy, graduated from QHS; attended Culver-Stockton, JWCC and Abbott Beauty Academy. I am a cosmetologist at Kristopher’s and teach piano privately. I feel blessed to be married to John (who captured my heart when I was in the 4th grade…) and love serving in the worship and Fuel ministries by his side. Although you’ll find me on stage in various worship settings, I’m most comfortable beyond the spotlight and have to rely on the Holy Spirit when asked to assume a leadership role. I am learning to trust Him to use me in spite of my shyness and open to letting Him lead. When I’m not being entertained by my husband’s unique sense of humor, you’ll find me hanging out with friends and family, trying new recipes, or helping John with the latest home project. I love Christ and I love that He’s given John and I the privilege and opportunity to serve Him together!

Ryan Green

Hey, I'm Ryan! I'm a Bible college grad, former youth pastor, former worship pastor and world traveler.  I play a little guitar, a little harmonica and a little frisbee golf.  I rock a blue Honda scooter, I wish I had an iPhone but I'm glad I don't and I have an irritating habit of drawing on everything I own.  I read a lot of good books, listen to a lot of good music and eat a little too much good food.  I met Jesus when I was 15 and feel like 14 years of chasing God has led to equally mind-blowing levels of confusion and awe.
My favorite drink is a Double Tall-4 shot Cafe Mocha with 2% milk - double whip - no foam...in case anyone wants to surprise me!

Brian Fuller

Hola everyone!

I'm Brian Fuller, a Mount Sterlian, meaning I'm from Mount Sterling. I'm currently attending John Wood Community College but I am transferring to Illinois State University in the Spring. I've been a part of FUEL for over half a year now and it's awesome!! :)

Leigha Hedrick

I am an accounting and finance major at Culver-Stockton College (I’m a math and budgeting nerd and absolutely love it). Along with going to school I also have two part-time jobs, one of them is here at The Crossing and the other is at Bergner’s.  At the church I help out a few days a week with keeping track of bills and other accounting odds-and-ends.  And on the weekends I work in the housewares department of Bergner’s. Right now I keep pretty busy and don’t have much free time but if I did I would be spending it at the movie theaters.  I love to get engrossed in the different stories and eat popcorn swimming in butter.  I enjoy being a small group leader here at Fuel but it would be so much better if John Mitchell would pay for my hot chocolate every now and again (I think he plays favorites).

Sarah Mayfield

Hey, I’m Sarah.  I’m 23, and can’t believe it! I thought you were supposed to have things a little figured out by now, but no such luck here. I have found consistently that the more you learn the less you know, and every question leads to ten more. Nevertheless, I am a chronic “why” asker. I love knowing how and why things work. I have a huge case of wanderlust, and love an adventure whenever I can find one.
I was born in Michigan, moved to Chile when I was a kid while my parents served as missionaries there. I gave my life to Christ and was instilled with a love for different cultures and people groups while there. I was baptized into the body of Christ shortly after my family returned to the states; and have from that time felt a call to minister, specifically to marginalized, underprivileged, and orphaned children.
I graduated from Quincy Christian School and attended Culver Stockton College and Moody Bible Institute. I’m currently going to school at J-dub. I also work at the BEST coffee shop in town Coffee on Broadway (stop in and see me sometime!).
